Leaving the Woofers
So I am having to leave the woofers at home this morning due to the fact that I am working up at a client site this week in London. My normal routine is having to wake up at around 5am to feed the dogs and get my first coffee of the day.
I know that it may sound wacky to a non dog lover but before leaving the house this morning I said goodbye to each of the dogs and also told them to look after Janno and also to make sure that they behaved. When you have got four Labradors in a house with you no matter if all the rest of the humans are out and about you are never truly alone.
Working out of the home office last Friday looked down from my desk around lunchtime and I had two dogs lying at my feet and the other two sprawled around the office. Luckily for the conference calls I had in the afternoon they continue to sleep and none of them were either snoring or farting.
Even leaving the French doors to the study open they prefer to be in next to me to being down the bottom of the garden soaking in the rays. I suppose it doesn’t matter if it is a Labrador or another breed, dogs really do love the company of humans.
Even this evening I will go to the place that I am staying and instead of having to fight my ways 150Kg of dogs everything will be oh so quiet. I have been lucky for a number of years in that my clients have been based outside of London but for the last six months the majority of my time has been spent up here so the dynamic of the time that I have with my dogs has massively changed.
What this means is that I need to make the most of the time that I have with them towards the end of the week and luckily having the vans it is so easy to throw them in the back and take a trip to somewhere different to walk them.
I have to admit that last week when I was feeling rough I travelled home from London and just crashed on the sofa, our bitch Lillie knew that I was not feeling well so she slinked into the living room and climbed up onto the sofa with me to keep me warm which even though she does have bony elbows it was lovely.
So o currently I am travelling up on the train to London and I wont see either the dogs or my wife until around midnight on Thursday so what I need to do is to plan a couple of walks for the coming weekend. Don’t get me wrong the local park is fine for a quick walk but they really do need to stretch their legs right out so that’s my job this week to organise where we can go…
